Fish
Report --Guatemala-- 1st July, 2002
from
Capt. Bud Garner of Artmarina
The fishing has gotten Red Hot!! Since last report. It has improved
from 6 sails raised daily to 20 raised daily to the last few days
30 to 40+ sails raised daily. Nice water 12 to 20 miles out and
plenty of sails, lots of small to medium Dorado and a few Marlin
seen. The last two legs of the Father-Son Tournament saw good weather
and good action. Highlites since my last report:

23rd
June "Classic" released 14 sails out of
20 bites as their luck got better today! "Magic" released
12 for 25 and on "Intensity" we got 11 out of 16 sails.
"Pelagian" got 2 sails on fly--2 on bait and a 40 # Dorado
and then went inshore and got a roosterfish for the ESPN filming!

22nd
June nice bite--On "Intensity" we raised
36 sails had 35 bites on the Circle hook rigged ballyhoo ( Eagle
Claw # L 2004 of course) and released 19 sails."Magic"
went 12 for 17 on sails and "Pelagian" caught 14 sails
while filming with the ESPN "Fish on" show. "Classic"
had 27 bites from 33 sails but with lots of bad luck only managed
6 releases.

21st
June "Pelagian" released 9 sails for 19
bites and on "Intensity" we were 9 for 16 on sails. "Magic"
got 5 sails and on "Sirena" the ESPN crew released 5 sails
while filming their show. "Gypsy" went way off looking
for Tunas and got 4 sails and 2 Dorados over 40 #s but didn't find
the Yellowfins.

Week
of April 25, 2002
Sea
is warm and calm causing the fishing to continue to be great. The
good news is that the sails have moved in as close as 12 to 15 miles.
Also, good pockets of fishing in the 25 to 30 miles range. Boats
are reporting an average of 20 to 25 sails being released per day.
Some nice size Dorado being landed and a few Marlins spotted.

Week
ending April 12, 2002
Fishing was
very hot with boats averaging 30 to 40 hits per day. The water is
warm with some Blue Marlin in the area. One 500lb. Blue Marlin was
caught and released after a 3+ hour fight. Some Sailfish caught
on the fly. Also, a few 35 to 45lb. Dorados caught.
