Guatemala’s best Sportfishing Charter, Fishing trip and Family Sport Fishing Vacation


Most of the 2004-2005 bill fishing season is over and below are the results for Feb. 2005. Compared to other years, this last fishing season saw an increase in families sailfishing with us as well as an increase in anglers from Europe. This year we are adding a new twist to our fishing reports…the numbers is parenthesis (1-2-3) represent the following: (1.released fish, 2.fish that took the bait, 3. raised fish). We wish to thank all our customers that came to Guatemala; thanks to you The Great Sailfishing Company had a great year. Thank you and tight lines!

March 2005

Local Charter
• 1st. Tranquility: (8 released, 12 bites) sails.

Mr. Dubuoix
• 1st. Stragos: (13 released, 16 bites, 17 raised) sails and 1 small dorado.
• 2nd. Stragos: (9 released, 14 bites, 16 raised) sails and two 10lb+ dorado.
• 3rd. Stragos: (16 released, 18 bites, 19 raised) sails.

Pastor Hamilton
• 1st. Piragua: (10 released, 11 bites, 15 raised) sails and 5 tunas.
• 2nd. Piragua: (15 released, 19 bites, 21 raised) and 1 dorado.
• 3rd. Piragua: (15 released, 18 bites, 26 raised) sails.

Mr. Jim Houghton
• 2nd. Tranquility: (9 released, 21 bites) sails and three 6lb+ tunas.
• 3rd. Tranquility: (4 released, 9 bites) sails and two 35lb+ dorado.
• 4th. Tranquility: (15 released, 20 bites) sails.

Mr. Leon Avakian and friend.
• 4th. Stragos: (10 released, 13 bites, 15 raised) sails.
• 5th. Stragos: (4 released, 6 bites, 7 raised) sails, one 20lb+ roosterfish and two 20lb+ dorado.

Mr. Michael Stough and Mr. Terry Carter
• 5th. Tranquility: (2 released, 12 bites, 21 raised) sails on the fly.
• 6th. Tranquility: (2 released, 8 bites) sails on the fly.
• 7th. Tranquility: (3 released, 13 bites) sails on the fly.
• 8th. Tranquility: (4 released, 11 bites) sails on the fly.
• 9th. Piragua: (3 released, 5 bites, 21 raised) on the fly. A 300lb+ marlin was raised but did not bite.

Mr. Schneeberg
• 7th. Stragos: (9 released, 14 bites, 18 raised) sails, and (3 released, 8 bites) 15lb+ dorado.
• 8th. Stragos: (19 released, 33 bites, 38 raised) sails.
• 9th. Stragos: (14 released, 26 bites, 28 raised) sails and (2 released, 4 bites) 15lb+ dorado. One 400lb+ marlin took the bait but quickly spit it out.
• 10th. Stragos: (9 released, 20 bites, 23 raised) sails. Another marlin, smaller though, about 350lb, took the bait but after fighting it for a while the line broke.

Local charter
• 8th. Gadiel: (14 released, 20 bites) sails.
• 9th. Gadiel: (16 released, 20 bites) sails.
• 10th. Gadiel: (20 released, 25 bites) sails.

Mr. John Moore
• 9th. Full Circle: (27 released, 34 bites, 39 raised) sails.
• 10th. Full Circle: (11 released, 17 bites, 25 released) sails and four 25lb+ dorado.
• 11th. Full Circle: (27 released, 37 bites, 41 released) sails and 3 dorado.

Mr. Diego Díaz
• 10th. Piragua: (5 released, 7 bites, 7 raised) sails.

Mr. Dwayne Hoving & fishing club.

Last year Dwayne came with his father, brother and a friend. This year he brought down his fishing club!

• 12th. Stragos: (11 released, 13 bites, 15 raised) sails.
o Tranquility: (2 released, 9 bites) sails and two 8lb+ tunas on the fly.
o Piragua: (11 released, 13 bites, 13 raised) sails.
o Full Circle: (13 released, 18 bites, 19 raised) sails.
• 13th. Stragos: (12 released, 18 bites, 19 raised) sails. A 300lb marlin took the bait but after a while the line broke.
o Tranquility: (3 released, 21 bites) sails on the fly.
o Piragua: (1 released, 14 bites, 27 raised) sail on the fly. A marlin also took the fly but the line broke.
o Full Circle: (26 released, 39 bites, 44 raised) sails.
• 15th. Stragos: (19 released, 32 bites, 36 raised) sails, one 20lb+ dorado and one 10lb+ grey shark. First shark any of our boats caught all season! The baby shark was released safe and sound.
o Tranquility: 1 sail released on the fly and (17 released, 29 bites) sails on conventional equipment.
o Piragua: (3 released, 9 bites, 21 raised) sails and one 40lb+ dorado on the fly.
• 16th. Stragos: (8 released, 10 bites, 12 raised) sails and 1 yellow fin tuna. A marlin was raised but did not take the bait and a dorado bit but the line broke.
o Tranquility: (2 released, 7 bites) sails on the fly.
o Piragua: (12 released, 17 bites, 17 raised) sails.
o Full Circle: (8 released, 8 bites, 8 raised) sails and 3 dorado.

Alex
• 13th. Gadiel: (8 released, 14 bites) sails.

Mr. Michael Spencer
• 18th. Sirena: 9 sails released and 5 dorado.

Dr. Craig Johnson. Last year Dr. Johnson could not fish due to bad weather and high seas. This year the weather and fish cooperated.
• 21st. Stragos: (8 released, 11 bites, 18 raised) sails, 9 small dorado and 4 tuna.

Mr. Robert Deen
• 21st. Piragua: (5 released, 5 bites, 5 raised) sails and two 20lb+ dorado on the fly.
• 22nd. Piragua: (3 released, 5 bites, 9 raised) sails and three 40lb+ dorado. A marlin bit but got away.

Mr. Hugo Morales
• 29th. Piragua: (7 released, 7 bites, 7 raised) sails and 14 dorado of various sizes.
• 30th. Stragos: (3 released, 3 bites, 3 raised) sails and two 15lb+ dorado.
