Blue Marlin in Guatemala
This fishing report for week ending 02-18-06 is prepared by The Great Sailfishing Company which operates out of the new Pez Vela Marina, Guatemala. The fishing this week ranged between 13 to 25 miles with
calm days / flat seas and late afternoon winds causing chop. At the first of the week fishing was very good with most boats boating sails in the low twenties to low 30's on conventional tackle and between 3 to 8 sails on the fly. However, later in the week the fishing did slow down a with most boats in the mid to high single digits on conventional and low single digits on fly. We at the Great Sailfishing Company hosted the Mike Murphy party out of New Jersey on our 35ft. Bertram The Joint Venture, they boated a total of 44 sails over two days and then played two nice rounds of golf the following two days before departing to stateside this coming Monday. We also hosted the Overstreet party out of Chicago who boated 14 sails their 1st. day and 7 on their 2nd. Oh,yes they hooked up their own sails. Nice job and let us not forget a local charter of 5 new medical school grads who boated 22.
