Marlin and Sailfish in Summer Fishing in Guatemala
This fishing report is for the week ending 08-20-06 and is prepared by The Great Sailfishing Company which operates out of the new Pez Vela Marina, Guatemala. The fishing grounds for this past week ranged from 30 miles to as far as 40 miles. Seas started out fairly nice ranging between 1 to 3ft at the start of the week. However, on Saturday caused by a storm, seas were as high as 6ft. However, on Sunday clam seas were once again the norm.
This week saw fair results with boats reporting raises in the low single digits, with releases also in the single digits. Once again there were lots of Dorado and yellowfin tuna to be had. On Saturday and Sunday we had the Mark Hill party which released 3 out of 4 sails and on Sunday released 2 sails, boated 6 dorado and after a 1 hour fight released a nice 400 to 450lb. Blue Marlin, nice fishing guys.
We are very happy to announce that we have a new
addition to the GreatSailfishing fleet - a widebody 38ft Bertram
Convertible sportfisher. She has a 14.5ft beam - so lots of space
in a huge cockpit for when the
action gets frantic - and a beautiful fully refurbished Release
fighting chair.
As soon as you walk on the dock, the boat stands out because of its triple-spreader Lee snr outriggers and the classic Bertam profile. Inside is fully airconditioned for your comfort when underway.......and in case you need it, a little rest and relaxation on the way back to the dock in the evening.
With the arrival of this vessel, The Great Sailfishing Company is now able to offer a complete range of Bertam vessels from 28ft to 38ft to accommodate your party.
Best regards and tight lines,
